Our Story
From the vibrant streets of Rio de Janeiro to the flourishing heart of Central Florida, our founder, George E. Albu, has woven a tale of ambition and achievement. His journey began in Brazil with his mother, father, two sisters, and a brother. Eventually, his family immigrated to the United States to find a better way of life and landed in New York City.
George attended college in Pennsylvania and became a civil engineer. He then went overseas to work in the construction field and returned to the United States in 1981 to Longwood, FL, where he and his wife raised their two sons, Jason and Andrew, through the Central Florida public school system. Jason and Andrew both went on to attend the University of Florida.
George worked for some local general contractors in Central Florida, but his entrepreneurial spirit bloomed when he founded Albu, Inc. in 1994 to provide construction consulting services. In 2001, he formed ALBU & Associates, Inc. and hired his sons to help run the company, melding the family’s collective expertise and passion. From a modest beginning in the guest bedroom of their family home in Longwood, success saw the company migrate to a small office in Winter Park and eventually to the prominent location where we operate today on Fairbanks Avenue.
Flourishing Under New Leadership
George’s retirement in 2011 marked a heartfelt milestone, as his sons took the reins. Their leadership has fortified ALBU’s foundation and propelled it to even greater heights of industry excellence.
With each milestone reached and every project bearing our name, ALBU’s legacy is further solidified – a legacy of unwavering commitment to quality, the community, and the success of everyone who puts their trust in us.
Our Team
ALBU comprises a diverse team of talented individuals who have extensive industry experience:
Andrew Albu
Co-Chairman
“You probably didn’t even know I worked here or that Jason had a partner. Well he does and it’s me. I’m like the Wizard of Oz or the puppet master hiding behind the scenes. Every once in a while you’ll see me sneak out from behind the curtain, but don’t get used to it. It’s sort of like finding a unicorn leprechaun at the end of a double rainbow.”
Jason Albu
Co-Chairman
“You probably all know me. As Ron Burgundy says, ‘I’m kind of a big deal. People know me. I’m very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.’ If there is a microphone or an audience I’m about as happy as a tick on a fat dog. Uncomfortable in a situation, let me help you out.”
Bob Dzurino
President
Over the past 20 years, you’ve probably learned that if you want the right answer, you need to skip Jason and Andrew and go straight to Bob—he’s the real deal. Experienced in both the office and the field, his knowledge of construction is vast. He also possesses extensive knowledge of sports, Florida breweries, and, as a fun fact, he is an incredibly fast reader.
Jean Cox
Controller
Much like the Pinball Wizard, Jean is the number wizard. From the great The Who song: “Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve played the silver ball. From SoHo down to Brighton, I must have played them all. But I ain’t seen nothin’ like him in any amusement hall. That deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball.” Now, this isn’t literal. Jean isn’t deaf, dumb, and blind, but she is the number wizard we’ve seen. Debits must equal credits. Did someone say GAAP? Now you’re speaking Jean’s language.
